Burger Sauce

Perfect Pairing:  Slap Chop

Typically ketchup, mustard, and pickles get all the action when it comes to topping a hamburger.  This burger sauce combines all of those along with some other good stuff.    It is a one-stop shop sort of deal, and a fun way to jazz up the standard summer burger!  Try it with some onion slices and avocado.  So good.  It is also great as a sandwich spread.

I have been known to collect obscure cooking tools, but I think the “slap chop” is pretty standard in many kitchens nowadays.  I don’t use it all the time but there are times when it is great.  I typically enjoy chopping, but the slap chop is the perfect for this recipe.  I used it to chop up the bread and butter pickles.  The pickles tend to slide all over the place when you try to chop them with a knife.

Burger Sauce

Lindsay at Perfecting the Pairing

·         ½ cup ketchup

·         ½ cup mayonnaise

·         ½ cup chopped bread and butter pickles

·         1 tsp dry mustard

·         1 tsp Old Bay seasoning

·         2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

·         Dash of salt, more to taste

·         Hot sauce, to taste

Combine the first six ingredients (through Worcestershire sauce), and stir to combine.  Taste for seasoning and add salt and hot sauce.  Serve on burgers or sandwiches.

  1. Yum! This looks so good! I'm totally trying this the next time we grill out.

  2. Tried tonight, super easy and delish. Will be a mainstay in our fridge from now on. It made enough to use in upcoming days, my husband wants to make ruebens and use it in lieu of thousand island dressing. I served it with burgers (using tomatoes, onions and avocadoes as toppings) and your recent Asian pasta recipe as a side. To quote our neighbor, I "knocked it out of the park!"
